Forget your Goals

Hello dear reader,

You are receiving this email as a part of my 'Mindful Monday Newsletter'

Today I just to start by saying, "Anything is possible because you are alive"

I am telling myself the same,

“Anything is possible because I am alive”

But I know many of us have stopped feeling hopeful about life and how our life can be.

Sometimes we miss the point of being alive, and we ask ourselves, “Is this all?”

“Is this how my life has come up to?”

“Is this how my life is going be?”

We fail to be positive and our dreams and ambitions just seem too far away.

If you’re going through such a time, I want to remind you that in these times, it’s okay if you can’t look forward positively towards the future.

You don’t always have to set your eyes ahead.

I'd say, forget about future goals and all the things you have to do.

Instead, just be present with the things you get to do.

Thinking about all the things we have to do, even if it is to be “successful, happy, productive, etc” can make us feel more anxious.

Too often we let our future goals instead of inspiring us, scare us.

Then instead of working on our goals, we look for distractions and procrastinate purposefully.

Then we feel pressured because we’re not taking pressure.

At such times when the future seems too scary and you feel you don’t have it in you to work towards the future, just forget about your goals for the moment and focus on the present instead.

Stop and look at your palms for a moment, if you like.

And breathe.

How you spent your past moments is what has led you up to this present moment.

How you spend your present is what is going to make your future.

If you don't want your future life to be like your present life, then change what you're doing in the present.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

But here, instead of thinking about your goals and tasks as something you have to do, think of it as something you are getting the chance to do.

You won’t be able to do it when you’re not alive.

Leave the future, take care of the 5 minutes in front of you.

Whether you achieve what you wish for is not the question, what matters is whether you did your part.

But you will see that as you start to take care of the present, the future will start to take care of its own.

And you're finding it hard to even take care of the present, just take care of your one breath.

As long as you're breathing, you're always alright.

The present is always safe (unless you're kidnapped or something)

Also, as you start to take care of the present, you will notice that your anxiety will slowly start to disappear and you will find more fulfilment and confidence in how your future is going to look like.

So anytime your mind tries to convince you to worry and start thinking about your future, don’t listen to it and simply come back to telling yourself, “I will simply take care of this present moment”

That is all you have to do. Again and again and again.

Hello dear reader, I changed my email format and I am loving it. I hope you did too. As I am writing to you, I am listening to my cousin brother beatboxing. He had come to my place for the weekend and he has been keeping me amused. He’s 21 years old and sharing with me all his different ideas about what he wants to do in future. At 21, he’s energetic, but also anxious like any 21-year-old. I’ve told him to keep a note of all his ideas when they arise, for the Universe is kind and bountiful....

Hello dear reader, I hope September has been good for you so far. Today I want to share about a book I recently read- The 80/20 Principle. It's amazing how a simple concept like this can really help us change and simplify our lives. I believe everybody should know about this principle and apply it in their lives to live more simply and intentionally. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with work and your life is a mess, you don’t know how to manage your time, or you don’t know where to put your...

Hello Dear reader, Happy Monday! You are receiving this email as a part of my Weekly Mindful Monday Newsletter series. As the end of the year is approaching, I want us to end the year in a truly restful and relaxed manner. Living in the city and in this increasingly connected and fast paced world, we have forgotten the art of true rest. I say true rest because the rest that we normally do isn’t truly rest. It’s a distraction or simply just half-rest. And I know it’s funny how we have to learn...
